  • We now have a certified operator for the BD FACSAria cell sorter/flow cytometer as Tingting Xu completes her manufacturer training at Becton Dickinson
  • Steven Ripp attends the NIH Zebrafish workshop to assist in the implementation of improved data metrics for zebrafish-related research and development
  • Robert Murdoch attends the ‘Parsing the Microbiome’ symposium at the University of Georgia to present his collaborative work on the ‘Detection and characterization of nitrous oxide reductase (nosZ) gene fragments in soil metagenomes’
  • The CEB’s Bioinformatics Research Facility hosts Robert Murdoch’s attendance at the Joint Genome Institute’s Microbial Genomics & Metagenomics Workshop where he presented his work entitled ‘An initial pangenomic survey of the Peptococcaceae’

  • Veronica Brown offers new Microbiology 650 course on high-throughput DNA sequencing
  • The CEB is proud to announce the merger of next-generation sequencing instrumentation (MiSeq) and bioinformatics support (Bioinformatics Resource Center) in an all-in-one service center in Room 736 of the Science and Engineering Research Facility (SERF)

  • Frank Loeffler is awarded an NSF grant to support US-China transdisciplinary research in environmental sustainability (FEWS Research Network)
  • Tingting Xu attends the Zebrafish Husbandry Workshop at the University of Alabama at Birmingham
  • The CEB welcomes six undergraduate students and six high school students for a summer of independent research
  • Nanna Brande-Lavridsen attends the SETAC Europe conference in Brussels, Belgium where she presented a poster on the “Effects of ingestion of antimicrobial nanoparticles on endogenous microbiota and pathogen resistance in Rainbow trout”
