CEB holds professional development workshop for Tennessee teachers

On March 6, 2020, the CEB hosted a Professional Development Workshop entitled “Ice, Permafrost, Microorganisms and Climate Change” for local high school teachers, under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation’s Dimensions in Biodiversity program. Dr. Tatiana Vishnivetskaya and Dr. Susan Pfiffner organized the workshop and seven high school teachers from local schools (Jellico HS, Sequoyah HS, Sweetwater HS and Roane County) participated. During the workshop, UT faculty, staff, and students discussed science, avenues for more effectively communicating and integrating academic research into STEM teaching curricula at the local school system, and showcased the CEB research facilities.
